A civil protection education project initiated by the Ministry of the Interior (VRM) will teach schoolchildren in older grades how to behave in emergencies, says Agneta Ladek, Deputy Minister of the Interior. During these lessons, she said pupils will be allowed to see what shelter would look like in an emergency using virtual goggles.

„The Ministry of the Interior continues its information campaign „We are a team. We have a plan“ campaign, which continues to tour school premises. To prepare the population as much as possible for possible threats and disasters, the youth audience is unique for us,“ Ladek told a press conference on Monday.
„Using the latest technology and creativity, we reach the student and their entire family. Each of us needs to know the necessary steps to feel safer on X-day,“ she added.
The project will strengthen the population's emergency preparedness and is part of the civil protection information campaign: „We are a team. We have a plan.“
The project will visit training institutions and focus on civil protection – and preparedness for war threats. During the educational sessions, young people in grammar schools will learn how to prepare for military threats, possible nuclear accidents and other civil protection disasters.
During the interactive civil protection lesson, pupils will learn how to deal with an emergency, what to know in case of a warning siren, and where to find all the information they need to be prepared for possible disasters and threats. Students will also be presented with an exit bag.
The civil protection lesson will also include a virtual reality simulation in which each pupil will experience what it would be like to seek shelter in an emergency.
The Ministry notes that the project will visit gymnasiums in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Šiauliai and Panevėžys regions.
„Surveys show that the Lithuanian population's preparedness for emergencies remains insufficient and that people lack the skills necessary for survival. Therefore, it is necessary to prepare in advance – to be interested and know how to care for one's relatives for at least 72 hours,“ said Ladek.
It should be recalled that last year, during the information campaign, the Ministry of the Interior paid more attention to schools in the region bordering Belarus, which are located within 100 km of the Astravas nuclear power plant, where a nuclear accident is possible, and demonstrated how to behave in such a disaster.
