Reacting to the intention of the President's Chief Adviser Frederikas Jansonas, who is accused of anti-Semitism by Conservative leaders, and his intentions to go to court, Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė makes it clear that she sees no grounds for this.

„It is not clear from the statements made by the Adviser what exactly he is planning or thinking of taking to court. Therefore, the most general comment would be that life in the country of the rule of law is great in that everyone has an unquestionable right to appeal to the court even in cases where there is not much objective reason for it,“ Šimonytė said in a written reply to Elta.
In an interview with Elta last week, Jansonas said that he intends to go to court after the Seimas elections over the anti-Semitism allegations. The Adviser implied that the Prime Minister might have to explain herself for public statements made against him.
„Mr Landsbergis is smart enough not to add his name to false accusations and thinks this will avoid possible legal trouble. But there have been people – the same Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė – who were less careful and added her name to false facts,“ Jansonas said, noting that such accusations must be accompanied by either concrete facts or a public denial of the falsehoods that have been spread.
„Since it was said, I understand, at a press conference, I expect that sooner or later it will be refuted in the same way,“ he said.
ELTA recalls that during the September congress of the Homeland Union of Lithuanian Christian Democrats (TS-LKD), party Chairman Gabrielius Landsbergis stated that he believes that there are people in the team of advisers to President Gitanas Nausėda who secretly hope that the Nemuno Aušra (Dawn of the Nemunas Dawn), led by Remigijus Žemaitaitis, who has broken his oath of office as an MP, will be successful in the parliamentary elections in October.
When asked about the statements made by the leader of the Conservatives, Prime Minister Šimonytė echoed the Minister and said that she missed a clear position of the Presidency on Žemaitaitis. In her view, there are legitimate questions about the position of the President's Advisor, Jansonas.
„One of the President's Advisers has written (...) gossip in a publication in the past which was also clearly anti-Semitic in content. And I recognise people's right to be wrong, to apologise, to change their minds, and to make amends. But somehow, I have never seen this in public,“ the Prime Minister said.
„On the other hand, it must be understood that Mr Jansonas is not an ordinary adviser to the President's Office because we often hear his position in public. Sometimes, we may not fully know whether it is his position or that of the President of the Republic of Lithuania,“ the politician added.
