„The complex will be one of the most modern buildings of its kind in the Baltics. Our goal is to deliver a project that seamlessly integrates efficiency, employee comfort, and sustainability,“ says Sigita Survilaitė, CEO of Darnu Group. „To achieve this, we will adhere to the international BREEAM system standards and incorporate cutting-edge technological solutions that will create long-term value during the operation of the premises.“
The nearly 42,000 sq. m building will be constructed on a 13 ha land plot at Migūčionių st. 1A, next to the A1 highway near Elektrėnai.
The logistics centre will comprise two primary areas: warehousing and central kitchens, each serving distinct functions. The storage area will be divided into three sections: dry, cooled, and refrigerated storage. The central kitchen will feature a culinary and pastry area, as well as an administrative workspace.
A notable feature of the project is the installation of an 800–1000 MWh solar power plant on the building's roof, which will provide a significant portion of the site's energy needs. The facility will also be equipped with a building management system (BMS) to remotely monitor and control all site utilities. Additionally, a cold production system will be implemented, utilizing the generated heat to provide hot water and warm the building.
The project area will include 200 car parking spaces for employees, as well as a separate 57-space parking area and 64 loading bays for freight vehicles.
The logistics centre's design will be distinguished by its unconventional architectural solutions, which will set it apart from similar constructions. The façades will be divided into four colour sections with distinct material characteristics. A cantilevered entrance walkway-bridge will be a prominent feature, connecting the main recreational space to the building.
As part of the project, Darnu Group will also improve the surrounding infrastructure, including the intersection of Migučionių and Žilvičio streets, and the extension of Migučionių street adjacent to the new facility.
Upon completion, the Rimi logistics centre will create approximately 800 new job opportunities. Employees will have access to high-quality lounge areas, a spacious roof terrace, and an outdoor seating area, as well as intelligent ventilation and lighting systems to ensure comfortable working conditions.
This project is not Darnu Group's first built-to-suit endeavour. The company has previously completed several notable projects, including a logistics centre commissioned by Vilniaus duona and the Finnish company Vaasan, an administrative building with a logistics centre for Apranga, the Ąžuolyno klinika and two military towns in Vilnius and Šilalė districts, as well as the Vilnius City and Panevėžys County police commissariats with police detention facilities, which have been built on the basis of a public private partnership.
Darnu Group is currently developing several other projects, including the Vilnius Business Park in Ukmergės and Gariūnų st., and is nearing completion on the Paupys multifunctional district in the capital. The company has also recently commenced construction on the new Sakai district in the capital, situated adjacent to the Karoliniškės Nature Reserve and the Neris River.
