Dr Šarūnas Stanaitis, the CEO of Inion Software, says that Italy's choice for development is not accidental.
According to Dr Stanaitis, it is currently a very suitable and promising market for the growth of innovative solutions focused on renewable energy, and there are several solid reasons for this.
Stanaitis highlights the advantages of the Italian market: „First, the country has a big industry, consuming a lot of electricity. Italians are increasingly discussing the need for effective electricity market balancing and recognising that energy storage systems are an excellent solution. It can help businesses to use stored energy when the electricity demand is high. Businesses can significantly reduce their electricity costs by avoiding periods of critical loads.
Besides, Italy has very favourable natural conditions for generating electricity from the sun and wind. It's no wonder that Italians have begun to actively seek out innovations and take advantage of everything that can ensure the highest quality electricity production and usage“.
Inion Software is expanding its operations in Italy in several stages. Last year, Inion Software helped their partners Omnispower Europe develop a unique battery operated by Inion Software controllers. The battery is composed of modules, and by combining the capacity of the modules, its total capacity can reach up to 2.5 MWh.
This battery was explicitly equipped with Inion Software's AI, which analysed climatic conditions and energy production capacity and selected the most suitable energy storage and distribution scenarios.
One such battery has been successfully operating in Padua, Italy's largest land port. The battery modules here help store 1.5 MWh of energy, which the port can use at optimal times.
Further development of Inion Software's AI-based solution for managing energy storage batteries will be carried out in collaboration with the Italian companies Sipro and Kito Dimex. By joining forces with Lithuanians, they will help further introduce energy storage systems with the Inion Software AI-based energy storage management system to the Italian market.
Inion Software has been developing monitoring and analysis tools for solar power plants for over five years, and demand for these tools increases yearly. The company also develops and adapts smart battery management systems that use AI algorithms to predict and select the most efficient scenario for the power generation process.
One of the country's most innovative startups
Inion Software's success has not gone unnoticed. Inion Software was nominated in the Tech for Good category of the Vilnius TechFusion Startup Awards 23.
This category recognises startups that use innovation to bring about a positive impact on the environment and promote more sustainable living. The people behind these Awards announce a goal of making Vilnius a climate-neutral city by 2050, and its Tech for Good nomination bestowed on a company is a strong testimony that it has the potential and the right tools and skills.
In the Tech for Good category of the Startup Awards, Inion Software was one of a number of companies that included Viezo, Dancer, PVcase and Inbalance Grid.
